MIG/MAG Welding – Beginners Course
To provide learners with the skills and knowledge to undertake basic MIG/MAG welding tasks competently and safely. The course would be adapted to cover client specifications.
Outline of syllabus
- The welding circuit
- Plant and ancillary equipment
- Maintenance of welding equipment
- Wire feed control
- Relevant health and safety
Introduction to the MIC/MAG process, to include:
- Welding consumables (wire specification and types)
- Identification of welding set controls
- Selection and adjustment of amperage and volts
- Characteristics of a good weld
- Simple diagnosis of weld defects
- Tutored welding practice
