Michael Hope

2003/2004 – Level 3 Apprentice Of The Year

Michael Hope and TrainersMichael gained apprenticeship employment with multi-national engineering company Rockware Glass in December 2001.  He immediately began his training with DETA 2000, spending approximately 3 months in their training centre working towards his level 2 NVQ in Performing Engineering Operations and five key skills at level 2.

Through the combination of practical work experience and high quality training, Michael has gained practical electrical skills which he now uses in his day to day duties.  These include assisting with the smooth running of machinery and maintaining electrical components.

Michael attended Doncaster College and completed a BTEC National Certificate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.  At the time Michael said “The A level route was not for me so I decided that working towards qualifications while getting practical experience at the same time would be the best option.  This meant that I could earn while I learnt and still gain qualifications that would enable me to go to university in the future if I chose”.

Update On Michael’s Progress

Still employed by Rockware Glass, Michael has been given the opportunity to go to the USA to attend a four day Production Information Course where he learnt about networking, hardware and software trouble shooting and systems building.

Michael has received one of the Glass Industries highest accolades when he was awarded with the Personal Achievement Award from the Glass Training Services.
