Celebration Of Learning Awards Finalist – February 2006

Having won the Schools Programme Apprentice of the Year Award two years running DETA decided to nominate Danny for the South Yorkshire LSC Celebration of Learning Awards.

Danny had found mainstream education difficult to get to grips with and even felt like giving up.  However, once Danum School arranged for Danny to attend the DETA training centre 3 days per week to undertake the Performing Engineering Operations NVQ his attitude towards education completely changed.  Danny attended the training centre for two years and never missed a day.  At the time Danny said that “I have finally found an environment that I felt comfortable in”.

With his new found confidence, the support of his family and the staff at DETA Danny decided that he wanted to join the army and with his new qualifications under his belt his was accepted into the Royal Artillery.

The staff at DETA are very proud of Danny’s achievements and wish him every success for the future.
