Adam Showell

2004/2005 – Level 3 Apprentice Of The Year

Adam Showell and TrainersFormer Campsmount School pupil, Adam Showell, did so well on his apprenticeship programme that he won two awards with DETA, both the Level 2 Apprentice of the Year Award in 2002/2003 and the Level 3 Apprentice of the Year  Award in 2004/2005.  In addition to the awards that he won with DETA he also won the Cementation Foundations Skanska National Apprentice of the Year.

At the time Adam said “I really enjoy my work at Skanska as it’s always interesting.  I’ve been able to get practical experience and qualifications at the same time.  I think apprenticeships are a great way to help you get a good career.  Winning the awards has been really good and made all my hard work worthwhile.”

Gary Jeavons, Adam’s supervisor, added: “We nominated Adam for the award as he has been one of the best apprentices we have ever had.  He is dedicated, hard working and good at his job.  Adam learns the theory at DETA and puts these skills into practice at work, proving his abilities on the job – and he gets paid too.  Winning Cementation Foundations Skanska’s National Apprentice of the Year Award is a brilliant achievement and Adam truly deserved it.”

Update On Adam’s Progress

Adam is still employed by Cementation Foundations Skanska, he has completed his BTEC National Certificate and has taken a year off studying, during this year he has been seconded to the Ground Engineering Department and he is hoping to secure a full-time position within this department.
