Wholesale Distribution Warehousing & Storage Apprenticeship

This qualification is suitable for all those people who work in a warehousing and distribution environment.  The optional units are selected from a range of units to suit the needs of your vocational area.  This qualification will be delivered in the workplace.  Apprentices must be employed to undertake this qualification.

Qualification Structure

NVQ

A minimum of 8 units from the Wholesale, Distribution, Warehousing and Storage NVQ at level 2.  3 mandatory units and 5 optional units

Key Skills

Communication and Application of Number at level 1 and any two of the following:  ICT or Problem Solving at level 1, Working with Others or Improving Own Learning and Performance at level 2

Additional Enhancements

A minimum of two units from an additional NVQ at level 2 in the following subjects:

  • Organising Road Transport Operations
  • CIEH Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • IOSH Working Safely
  • CIEH Basic Health and Safety Certificate
  • HSE First Aid at Work (four day programme)
  • Fork lift truck operator certificate (age restrictions apply)
  • ECDL

The level 2 NVQ in Wholesale, Distribution, Warehousing and Storage consists of the following units:

Mandatory Units

You must complete all three units

  • Contribute to the maintenance of health and safety in the workplace
  • Contribute to keeping the workplace secure
  • Work effectively in own organisation

Optional Units

You must achieve five of the following units:

  • Receive goods and materials into storage
  • Put goods and materials into storage
  • Maintain the quality of goods in storage
  • Dispatch goods and materials
  • Assemble bulk orders for goods
  • Process orders for goods
  • Process returned goods and materials
  • Process donated goods for resale or recycling
  • Help customers to choose products
  • Provide information and advice to customers
  • Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
  • Maintain the safety of high risk goods and materials
  • Maintain hygiene standards in handling and storing food products
  • Operate specialised plant and machinery to performance requirements
  • Lift, transfer and position loads
