Year one - September Start

Performing engineering operations NVQ level 1 – 6 units

Programme Times: Term time only 9.00am – 3.00pm

Attendance: 3 days per week

Programme induction: First week of course

  • Training Centre Rules and Regulations
  • Understanding your qualification

Day Two

  • Learning plan preparation
  • Equality and Diversity workshop

Day Three

  • Car building exercise

Performing Engineering Operations Units – Level 1

  • Unit 1 - Working Safely in an Engineering Environment
  • Unit 2 – Working Efficiently and Effectively in Engineering
  • Unit 3 – Using and Communicating Technical Information
  • Unit 4 – Making Components using Hand Tools and Fitting Techniques
  • Unit 17 – Using Manual MIG or MAG Welding Equipment
  • Unit 20 – Wiring Electrical Equipment and Circuits

Key Skills Preparation

  • Initial and diagnostic assessments
  • Working With Others And Improving Own Learning And Performance

Year Two - September Start

Performing engineering operations level 2 – 87 Units

Key skills communication and application of number at level 1 or 2 (dependent upon academic ability)

Overall Qualification: Industrial Applications Apprenticeship

Programme Times: Term time only 9.00am – 3.00pm

Attendance: 4 days per week

Performing Engineering Operations Units – LEVEL 2

  • Unit 1 – Unit 2 – accreditation for prior achievement from the level 1 NVQ
  • Unit 3 – Using and Communicating Technical Information
  • Unit 7 – Forming and Assembling Pipework Systems
  • Unit 11 – Preparing and Using Lathes for Turning Operations
  • Unit 12 – Preparing and Using Milling Machines
  • Unit 28 – Preparing and Using Manual TIG or Plasma-arc Welding Equipment
